Chef, author and former MasterChef judge Audra Morrice has been announced as the new International Culinary Ambassador for Avocados Australia.
Best known for her time on MasterChef Asia and Singapore, Morrice’s appointment celebrates her role as a cultural connector and advocate for authentic regional cuisine.
Through a program supported by the ASEAN-Australia Centre, she’ll lead culinary workshops and mentorship sessions across Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand in 2026, working with young chefs to explore how Australian produce can be used to elevate local dishes.
Born in Singapore to a Chinese-Indian family with roots in Malaysia, Morrice’s career has been shaped by her cross-cultural heritage. Now based in Australia, her food reflects a mix of influences from both regions, drawing on her belief that cooking is as much about storytelling as it is about flavour.
John Tyas, Avocados Australia’s CEO, said, “Audra’s rich cultural experiences and love of Australian produce will work hand-in-hand in her role as Avocados Australia’s International Culinary Ambassador.
“I am proud to welcome Audra on board. Her leadership and experience make her the perfect ambassador to help young chefs in ASEAN discover how Australian avocados can elevate local flavours and dishes.”
By showcasing Australian avocados, one of the country’s most versatile and premium exports, the program will explore how provenance, sustainability and storytelling come together on the plate.
Morrice said she’s excited to bring her love of Australian produce to a wider audience.
“Australian Avocados have long been recognised across Asia as a premium, high-quality product. This program will further deepen understanding of avocados, from cultivation and management to their diverse culinary applications.
“I’m genuinely excited to see how emerging chefs will showcase the incredible versatility of this fruit by applying their local spin.”
Morrice’s appointment also reflects her growing influence across Asia. In addition to her work with MasterChef, she serves on the ASEAN-Australia Centre Advisory Board, is an Ambassador for the Singapore Tourism Board and a Patron of the Australia Malaysia Singapore Association.
By connecting chefs and cultures through food, Morrice’s new role continues her long-standing mission to use cooking as a way to bring people together and to celebrate the shared flavours that connect Australia and Southeast Asia.
