Garden State Hotel is planning a new 300-seat rooftop garden above its Flinders Lane venue, adding an all-season open-air space overlooking the Melbourne CBD.
Set across two levels, the rooftop has been designed to complement the venue’s existing social focus, offering a mix of indoor-outdoor drinking and casual dining suited to after-work visits, long afternoons and weekend trade.
The bar offering will centre on herb and floral-led cocktails, alongside craft beer, wine and non-alcoholic options. A full pub menu is expected to follow.
Melbourne-based architect Telha Clarke is behind the design, which will feature layered greenery, banquette seating and soft lighting. An upper mezzanine level will be available for private events and seasonal activations.
“The rooftop will be a true extension of what people already love about Garden State,” says Garden State Venue Manager Scott Woods. “With a retractable roof, it will be the perfect place to gather all year round.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in February, with the rooftop expected to be completed by Spring 2026.
