
A panel of professional judges has named Australia’s best pies and the winners of the 36th Official Great Aussie Pie Competition, following four days of tasting at Fine Food Australia at ICC Sydney last week.
More than 1,500 entries from over 200 bakeries were assessed across 15 categories, with results announced on a Facebook livestream via the competition’s official page. Entrants ranged from bakers to pastry chefs, chefs and butchers, with prizes worth more than $50,000 in cash and products on offer.

Since launching in 1989, the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition has brought the baking industry together for a fun and friendly competition and resulted in incredible sales from winning bakeries. Previous winners have seen customers travel for hours and line out the door to try their baked goods, experiencing levels of demand that keep them working overtime for months.
The event also encourages bakers to refine their craft, improving and being creative with their products – key ingredients for long-term success in a competitive industry.
