The Rocks is marking St Patrick’s Day with six days of events running from March 12 to March 17, spanning live music, street parties, outdoor cinema and Irish food across more than 20 events.
The celebrations are anchored by Sydney’s Irish pub scene and the annual Sydney St Patrick’s Day Festival, with food and drink specials running across the weekend.
The Rocks go green
Sydney St Patrick’s Day Festival (March 14 to 15): The centrepiece of the week returns to First Fleet Park, with two days of free live Irish music, dancing and family entertainment. It’s the kind of thing you can dip in and out of all weekend.
Free outdoor cinema (March 12): Things kick off on Thursday with a free screening of Sing Street, the much-loved coming-of-age musical comedy, with Guinness available on the night if you want to lean into it.
The Mercantile street party (March 15): The annual George Street street party is back, with live Irish bands, traditional dancers, food stalls and Guinness on tap. It gets busy, and rightly so.
St Patrick’s Day breakfast (March 17): A traditional Irish breakfast served with Irish coffee or Guinness, with live music and dancing to go with it. Sydneysiders can enter to win two tickets. The Mercantile will be free entry from 10 am once the breakfast wraps up, keeping the celebrations going through the day.
The Spice Bag Trail: The Rocks’ take on the iconic Irish spice bag is available across multiple venues, including 4 Doors Down by The Mercantile, The Orient, The Glenmore and The Australian Heritage Hotel. Worth working your way through.
Green-themed food and drink: The Rocks’ venues are leaning into the occasion with some creative specials. Pony Dining’s charred pavlova with banana, Guinness ice-cream and basil-lime syrup is worth a detour, as is La Renaissance Patisserie’s green iced pistachio drink. Irish-owned The Tea Cosy is doing emerald-green scones and tea, and ASLAN Coffee Roasters has a matcha and white chocolate brownie with Irish cream mascarpone that’s hard to walk past.
Bar hopping: Frank Mac’s, The Doss House, Munich Brauhaus, The Orient Hotel, The Glenmore and Fortune of War, Sydney’s oldest pub, are all getting into the spirit across the week. Pick a starting point and see where the night takes you.
St Patrick’s Day celebrations at The Rocks run from March 12 to March 17 2026.
