World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants has released its Australia’s 30 Best Steak Restaurants list ahead of the global ranking due in May 2026, and Sydney has dominated with 17 entries.
Neil Perry’s Double Bay restaurant Margaret takes the top spot, which won’t surprise anyone who followed last year’s global list where it ranked second in the world. Surry Hills live-fire favourite Firedoor comes in at number two, followed by Martin Place’s Middle Eastern-inspired Aalia in third.
Brisbane makes a strong showing with four entries, led by Fortitude Valley woodfire bistro Agnes in fourth place. Adelaide’s Arkhé, the city’s first open-flame restaurant, is South Australia’s sole representative on the list but lands a commendable fifth, outranking all eight Melbourne entries in the process.
Melbourne’s top entry is Steer Dining Room at sixth, followed by Victor Churchill in eighth and Gimlet at 15. Sydney’s 20 Chapel rounds out the top 13, with the full list spanning Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
