From Here By Mike at 1 Hotel Melbourne is marking Lunar New Year with a short run of seasonal specials inspired by the symbolism and shared rituals of the celebration.
Running from February 17 to February 21, the limited menu brings together dishes designed around themes of longevity, abundance, strength and good fortune.
The offering is intended for group dining, encouraging guests to gather and share across lunch and dinner services.
The menu
The Lunar New Year dishes draw on traditional cues while staying grounded in the restaurant’s produce-first approach, with a focus on clear flavours, careful technique and quality local ingredients.
The specials include Fire Horse Noodles, featuring egg noodles tossed with Victorian spanner crab, ginger, black beans and soy butter, referencing longevity through long noodles layered with savoury depth.
A whole Port Phillip Bay snapper is gently steamed with ginger and spring onion and served whole in the spirit of abundance and balance. Beef short ribs are slow-cooked in master stock until tender, then finished with charred wombok, orange and star anise, delivering rich, comforting flavours.
To finish, the Fortune Mandarin dessert pairs citrus curd with wild marigold streusel and mandarin gel, nodding to traditional associations with wealth and good luck.
The Lunar New Year specials are available for a limited time only from February 17 to February 21. From Here By Mike is accepting walk-ins and bookings for both lunch and dinner.
