OPQ (Original Profiles of Quality) Restaurant Weeks is returning to Australia from September 15 to October 12, with more than 100 venues across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria putting Provolone Valpadana PDO on the menu.
Produced since the late 19th century in Italy’s Po Valley, Provolone Valpadana PDO cheese has become a symbol of heritage and authenticity.
The restaurant program spans neighbourhood pizzerias and bistros to fine-dining restaurants and fusion kitchens, with chefs creating both classic and inventive dishes that highlight the cheese’s versatility across appetisers, mains, desserts and small plates.
Now in its second year, the initiative has almost doubled in size, adding around 90 new restaurants and welcoming back 20 from the first edition.
President of the Provolone Valpadana Consortium, Giovanni Guarneri, says: “After the enthusiastic reception last year, reaching nearly 100,000 contacts, we are delighted to return with an even richer edition. OPQ Restaurant Weeks represents not only an exceptional showcase for our product but also a cultural bridge between European excellence and Australia’s innovative gastronomic scene.”
OPQ Restaurant Weeks is part of a three-year project co-financed by the European Union and run by the Consorzio Tutela Provolone Valpadana, aimed at promoting the quality, traceability and cultural value of certified European products.
The OPQ project is tailored to the Australian market, where demand for premium, provenance-driven products continues to grow. Alongside the restaurant program, the campaign will roll out events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, engaging chefs, diners, journalists and industry insiders.
