Sydney’s North Shore is set to welcome Newgreens Chatswood, a new precinct blending Italian-inspired dining, golf, wellness and community.
Opening October 1, the venue will house refined Italian restaurant Dodici, a health and wellness facility, a casual café and bistro named Tempo, along with corporate and function spaces overlooking the Lane Cove River.
Dodici takes the spotlight
Perched on the top floor of the clubhouse, Italian restaurant Dodici offers sweeping views over the valley from its elegant dining room and expansive alfresco terrace. The flagship is inspired by long dinners, timeless flavours and the art of sharing.
Dodici serves seasonal, produce-driven dishes in a warm and modern setting – from handmade pastas to wood-fired mains and an expertly curated drinks list. Under the guidance of head chef Fabio Durpetti (Unico Ristorante), the menu is designed as a journey through the heart of Italy.
Durpetti, who hails from Italy’s Marche region, blends authentic regional traditions with creative flair. His signature dishes include the whimsical Tiramisushi – a playful twist on tiramisu – and pappardelle al ragu di cervo, featuring blueberry pasta with slow-cooked venison ragù.
Other house-made pastas such as plin in brodo d’anatra (egg plin stuffed with braised beef, pork and rabbit in a rich duck and herb consommé) and seafood delights like spaghetti al nero with king prawns and lobster bisque, showcase his mastery of both flavour and technique.
Larger plates celebrate Italian conviviality, from the rotolo di salsiccia al forno – woodfired Italian sausage ordered by the metre – to the impressive fiorentina da 1kg dry-aged T-bone steak.
The wine and beverage list embodies sophistication and sustainability, with more than 70% of the list from wineries practicing organic or sustainable viticulture. The list is designed to take guests on a journey from Sicily to the Alps, featuring a balance of iconic producers and hidden gems found almost exclusively at Dodici.
Chef Durepetti says: “At Dodici, we want every plate to tell a story – of where the ingredients come from, of the Italian traditions that inspire us, and of the joy that comes from sharing food with the people you love. My hope is that guests leave with full hearts as well as full stomachs.”
Building Tempo
On the ground floor, Tempo brings a lively, approachable vibe to Newgreens’ dining. Mornings start with vibrant breakfasts such as the Brazilian açaí bowl, Belgian waffles with Nutella and hazelnut, or indulgent big breakfasts with all the trimmings.
The menu shifts to bistro classics by late morning, featuring items like salt & pepper calamari, hearty burgers and paninis. For something sweet, diners have plenty of options with treats like sticky date pudding or seasonal vegan sorbets.
Beyond the food
The entire precinct has been shaped by Marchese Partners and interior designer Nic Graham (QT Hotels, W Hotels), blending sleek design with a relaxed edge. And later this year, Newgreens will unveil Australia’s first purpose-built 12-hole golf course, pitched as a flexible alternative to the traditional 18 holes, complete with practice facilities and a golf retail shop.
With its mix of food, sport and lifestyle, Newgreens is positioning itself as one of the most ambitious new openings on the North Shore.
