Cafes and frozen dessert shops across the east coast are calling on Aussies to put another dime in the jukebox with limited edition drops for the third annual ‘A Very Laufey Day’. You cannot make this stuff up.
To celebrate the Icelandic artist’s latest album, ‘A Matter of Time,’ Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne-based cafes, ice creameries and frozen yoghurt shops are joining forces to launch their very own Laufey-themed specials, all cheekily titled ‘A Berry Laufey day’ and ‘A Matcha of Time’.
Here’s where fans of Laufey’s music, or ‘Lauvers’, can go to score these unique treats until August 24.
Ice Kirin Bar – Sydney

In true Ice Kirin fashion, their limited edition version of the ‘A Berry Laufey Day’ gelato plays on classic Asian tea flavours for the base. The team took to social media to unveil the mix: “A dreamy scoop that blends jasmine and matcha with strawberry, meringue and a sprinkle of rose petals.”
On the official ‘A Very Laufey Day’ website, Laufey says: “This year has been my ice-cream/frozen treat era, and I’ve loved seeing all of your videos using the Promise sound. It’s only appropriate that we have ice cream and fro-yo together on AVLD this year!”
The special flavour is available at Ice Kirin stores in Burwood, Chatswood and Sydney CBD from August 20.
Moon & Back – Sydney

Moon & Black cafe is serving up Laufey’s favourite Iced Honey Oat Milk Matcha, crafted with Uji matcha, creamy oat milk, topped with a delicate leatherwood honey foam and a dusting of lemon zest.
“Order ‘A Matcha of Time’, my fave right now. A matcha latte with honey, created just for AVLD! Maybe go with your best friend. Nothing better than sharing a yummy drink with your bestie,” says the official website.
The drink is available at Moon & Back Sydney from August 19 to 24.
Luther’s Scoops – Melbourne

One of Melbourne’s favourite ice cream chains, Luther’s Scoops has, as they say, ‘understood the assignment.’ Their version of ‘A Berry Laufey Day’ features a classic combination of custard and berries that is just too hard to beat.
“In celebration of Laufey’s upcoming album, we’ve launched our latest flavour, Mondlukaka: ‘A Berry Laufey Day’. Lush custard ice cream swirled with strawberry jam ripple, flaked almonds and almond sponge. Inspired by an Icelandic cake of the same name, it’s our ice cream tribute to an Icelandic artist,” says their Instagram page.
Luther’s Scoops’ iteration of the frozen treat is available from now until August 24.
Tori’s Melbourne

Tucked away in one of Melbourne’s many laneways, Tori’s shines through for this event with their sparkly rendition of ‘A Matcha of Time’.
“A sip that feels like a song,” is how their social media pages describe their concoction of an Iced Honey Oat Milk matcha with house-made glittered honey syrup.
Tori’s glistening matcha recipe will be available in store on August 24.
Shiro Gelato and Snack – Brisbane and Gold Coast

Asian inspired gelato store Shiro Gelato in Brisbane and Gold Coast, while quite vocal about their participation, are being a bit secretive about their take on ‘A Berry Laufey Day’. There will be berries – we know this – but to find out what the mystery mix is, you’ll simply have to visit Shiro Gelato and Snack on August 24.
Kin – Brisbane

Kin – A cafe that puts the ‘riz’ in Brisbane is adding a floral touch to their version of ‘A Matcha of Time’. The recipe features a honey oat milk matcha with elderflower, thyme with kanten jelly.
Like many of the participating cafes and ice creameries, Kin too announced their buy in on Instagram: “Join us on August 24th to celebrate the release of Laufey’s new album, ‘A Matter of Time,’ and sip on our special drink: A Matcha of Time.”
Kin’s variation of the drink will be available at their Teneriffe location on August 24.
