Sodastream has released a new sparkling water maker designed in collaboration with Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa. The model, called ensō, introduces a new design direction for the brand, pairing its existing home carbonation technology with a minimalist stainless-steel build.
Fukasawa, a Tokyo-based industrial designer known for his understated yet purposeful work, has applied his signature style to the machine’s stainless-steel frame, nozzle and accents. The result is a clean, sculptural design that blends easily into modern kitchens while prioritising intuitive usability.
“Design is the thing that forms a good relationship between a human, an object and an environment,” says Fukasawa.
“I always try to find iconic objects that people love. You used to have a well to drink water, and then someone invented the tap. It’s the same – we are inventing a new lifestyle and can now drink the soda water we make. This machine changes our lives. Beauty is a function.”
Sodastream, a PepsiCo subsidiary operating in more than 47 countries, says ensō reflects its ongoing focus on convenience and personalisation.
The brand’s system lets users make sparkling water at home with the push of a button, reducing single-use plastic while allowing them to customise their drinks.
The ensō features Sodastream’s quick connect system, slide-in CO₂ cylinder compartment and snap-and-lock technology, along with a stainless-steel reusable bottle that’s dishwasher safe, BPA-free and equipped with a detachable base for easy cleaning.
Positioned as a design-led home essential, ensō builds on Sodastream’s mission to make sustainable drinking a part of everyday life. According to the brand, one machine can replace more than a thousand single-use plastic bottles.
Available now, ensō can be purchased online and in-store at David Jones, Myer, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi and Kitchen Warehouse.
