Gravity Drinks Co. has announced Australian cricketer Travis Head as a part owner in the business and while the T20 World Cup exit is still fresh, this feels like a win worth celebrating.
Head is one of Australia’s most recognisable cricketers, best known for his match-winning century in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against India. He currently serves as Australia’s Test vice-captain.
Head’s involvement came about through a chain of mates. AFL star and fellow Gravity investor Travis Boak sent Head a slab of Gravity Drinks’ Hard Soda Limoncello, a low-calorie, vegan-friendly and 99% sugar-free RTD, and that was apparently all it took.
“I immediately loved the flavour and the lightness of it,” Head says. “It didn’t make me feel heavy or sluggish. It felt like a healthier alternative.”
Boak says the introduction was simply about sharing a product he enjoyed. “I was really just wanting to share the drink with my friends,” he says. “I didn’t think any more of it. The product sold itself. I’m just glad he’s on board too.”
Co-founder Mick Spencer says the connection was entirely organic, tracing back to Matt Poole, who introduced the brand to Boak, who introduced them to Head. “Like all great things, this came from genuine connection and authenticity,” he says.
“We’ve always focused on building a great team of people around the brand. The belief Travis has shown in Gravity is genuinely humbling. We’re incredibly excited to build something massive for Aussie consumers and to take Gravity to the next level as a proud, national brand.”
Gravity Drinks Co. continues to expand its national footprint, working closely with independent retailers, major liquor groups and key on-premise partners. The company’s portfolio spans its better-for-you RTD range alongside Australian-made spirits brands including NED, Grain Shaker and Act of Treason.
